Privacy

Smarter Consumer does not ask for your name, email address or payment details.

We use a third-party service to identify some visitors to our website. If you are identified, your email address may be shared with the company whose product the article features, and you may receive marketing emails from that company. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. To ask us not to identify you or email you, email offers@smarterconsumer.org. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out and do not run this service for that browser.

Each article also tells Meta (Facebook) that the page was viewed, through the advertising pixel of the company it features, so that company can measure and show its ads; this sets Meta's own cookies. That and the identification service may set cookies in your browser. When you follow a link from an article to a store, the store's own privacy policy applies from that point. Links may carry the advertising parameters you arrived with (such as utm codes and Facebook's click identifier) so the store can tell which article sent you.

Our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security.
